Yellow Brick Road is a Japanese exclusive series of video games that are loosely based on the Oz books. Three titles were released between 1995-1997 to platforms such as Windows 3.1 & 95, Macintosh, Sega Saturn, Apple Pippin, and PlayStation 1. They were all made by a now defunct company called Synergy Inc. with distribution by IBM for the computer versions.
The second game has the subtitle "Glinda to Nishi no Majo" while the third is called "Harapeko Tsuki To Hoshi Atsume".
They essentially play as point and click adventures with RPG elements as Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion battle many enemies. The third game changes the format with an assortment of mini-games that are completed to progress. The characters in the first game are introduced in unusual ways with Tin Man inside of his house, the Lion chained to a giant rock, and Scarecrow tied to a bench. In the second game, Scarecrow is tied upside down from a tree and in the third he must be rescued from the giant moon. Also in the second game, the plot is that Glinda is captured by the Wicked Witch of the West.
The Wogglebug appears in the second game wearing a college grad cap and gown as he plays a violin.
Some of the villains they encounter are the Wizard's floating head and Jack Pumpkinhead. The Wizard uses a flying machine as he gives the player the silver shoes in the second game.
