Biography[]

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Wilson Vianna began his acting career with the 1952 film "Amei Um Bicheiro" by Jorge Ileli and Paulo Wanderley. As an actor, Vianna not only worked in Brazil, but also internacionally, such as in the USA, acting in the 1956 film "Curucu, Beast of the Amazon" and in the 1957 film "Love Slaves of the Amazons", both by Curt Siodmak; in Mexico, he acted in two 1962 films based in Barú, a copy of Tarzan: "Barú, el hombre de la selva" and "El mundo salvaje de Barú", both by Vicente Oroná. Between 1962 and 1967 Vianna was invited by TV Rio to play Capitão Atlas, a character created by Péricles do Amaral for a radio program on Rádio Tamoio and also had a comic book. The creator himself was a writer for the program, called Clube de do Capitão Atlas. Still in 1967, Clube do Capitão Atlas, the TV show, had a brief airing on TV Excelsior, Rio de Janeiro.

In 1968, he began presenting the most famous TV show of his career, "Clube do Capitão AZA", on TV Tupi. In 1979, after 10 months without payment, like the other TV Tupi employees, Wilson Vianna presented his last episode of Capitão AZA, saying as a farewell that he would have to leave for a mission in space. After that, there was an attempt to make a film about the character, but the project was canceled due to lack of sponsorship. In 1981, the character's return by TVS was practically certain. With a contract practically agreed with Moysés Weltman, the director of TVS at the time, however, Wilson suffered a second heart attack. After it, Vianna was advised by his doctors and family not to return to television, as it would increase the risk of him having a third heart attack, which could be fatal. Vianna followed the advice, preferring to dedicate himself to his hotel in Penedo, a region in the municipality of Itatiaia, Rio de Janeiro, where he received old friends, including Flávio Cavalcanti, Roberto Carlos, Aérton Perlingeiro, and others.

Vianna would still return to acting in two films: "Atrapalhando a Suate" from 1983, reprising his role as Capitão AZA and acting alongside Dedé, Mussum, and Zacarias; and "Os Trapalhões e o Mágico de Oróz" from 1984, playing an unnamed delegate and acting alongside the aforementioned Trapalhões and Xuxa. He also participated in some chapters of the 1983 miniseries "Marquesa de Santos" on Rede Manchete.

On May 3, 2003, Vianna was in Mato Grosso do Sul, where he was spending some time with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law, when he had his third heart attack, which unfortunately took his life.
