Trouble Under Oz is a Oz book written by Sherwood Smith and illustrated by William Stout. It is the second in the series of new Oz novels commissioned by the L. Frank Baum Family Trust, and a sequel to the first of these books, Smith's The Emerald Wand of Oz. It was published on August 1, 2006.

Description[]

Em and Dori, the heroines of the first book, recur here; Dori returns to Oz to answer a summons from Princess Ozma, while the more practical Em remains behind to cope with the girls' divorcing parents. In Oz, Dori joins with Prince Inga to travel to the Nome Kingdom (the location of the trouble under Oz). There, they help Prince Rik, another character from the first book, attain the throne and forestall a war. The travelers meet invisible children and mermaids, and cope with monsters and an iron giant.

Smith draws upon L. Frank Baum's tenth Oz book, Rinkitink in Oz, for inspiration. Along with Prince Inga, there are three magic pearls to employ. The Mangaboos from Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz also make an appearance.
