Plot[]
Darby O'Gill (Junior Asparagus) resides at the O'Gill farm and is the son of a Kansas dental-floss farmer who just wants to have fun. When he learns about the Land of Ha's – a fancy amusement park – Darby is determined to go with the money he has saved for college. His father refuses, making him angry. Darby, with his pet pig Tutu by his side, flees the farm and sets for the Land of Ha's as a tornado sweeps them away inside a trailer. He eventually lands in Munchieland on top of a giant contraption called the Munchie Muncher, which captures little creatures called Munchies (French Peas). When a bully named Chester (Gourdon Smithson) discovers that Darby destroyed the Munchie Muncher, he tells Darby that he'll pay for what he did. Darby tells a fairy named Splenda (Madame Blueberry) that he wants to go to the Land of Ha's, and she reveals an old, senile toad named Yellow McToad who will lead him there. Along the way he meets a scarecrow (Mr. Lunt), a tin man (Larry the Cucumber) and a lion (Pa Grape), each with their own dreams.
When they get to the Land of Ha's they have as much fun as possible, but they soon run out of money and are forced to leave the Land of Ha's. The Wizard (Archibald Asparagus) tells Darby that he is a business man who used his wizard identity to make money. Disappointed, Darby is unsure what to do as he is afraid that his father will hate him for wasting his college money. When Darby threatens to tell the world the truth about the Land of Ha's, the Wizard traps Darby. Darby's friends eventually rescue him, but are soon cornered by Chester. However, Chester's parents come to take him to Kansas to visit his cousin Bobby (who taunted Darby at the beginning of the film). Splenda appears and sends Darby home by launching his trailer into the air. Seeing his dad, Darby tries to apologize and offer to work on the farm if he will take him back, but his father hugs him before he can request his offer, and accepts him back as his son.
