The Wonderful Wizard of Dinoz

The Wonderful Wizard of Dinoz (aired 17 November 2014) is an episode of the Canadian children's science-fiction show Trek's Adventures, spun off from Dino Dan, about brothers Dan and Trek Henderson, who believe they see living dinosaurs in their daily life. In this episode, Trek falls asleep listening to his mother read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and dreams that he is playing Dorothy's role in a dinosaur-oriented version of it. As in the 1939 movie, the characters he meets have analogs in Trek's home neighborhood in Toronto. Glinda meets the traveler on arrival, as in the movie, and another character recites the line "come out, come out, wherever you are."

There are no villains, with the conflict instead being that magic lightning has turned friendly dinosaurs into belligerent living skeletons. Trek's mission, aided by the Scare-Troodon who needs a brain, the Tin-Dromaeosaurus who needs a heart, and the Cowardly Stygimoloch who needs courage, is to rescue the Wizard of Dinoz. This Wizard, who is not a humbug, is being held prisoner in the great Museum in the center of the land, and restore the dinosaurs to their proper nature. In place of Silver Shoes or Ruby Slippers, Trek wears magical Green Dinosaur Slippers on his quest.
