Oz Wiki

The Wizard of the Emerald City: Part 1 - Yellow Brick Road (Russian: Волше́бник Изумру́дного го́рода. Дорога из жёлтого кирпича) is a Russian fantasy film adapted from the 1939 novel The Wizard of the Emerald City released on January 1st, 2025 in Russia. The story is given a modern setting with some alternate Oz elements such as Ellie arriving in Magic Land inside of a RV trailer by tornado instead of a house by hurricane per Volkov's version.

A sequel Part 2 entitled The Wicked Witch is expected to release in 2027.

The film is a co-production between Gazprom Media, Kinoslovo, Studio Trite, and Central Partnership allowing for various language releases. The domestic returns were very successful with an equivalent of nearly $33 million USD made on a budget equal to $8.6 million (based on ₽900 million budget and ₽3.213 billion gross).

Similar to the two recent animated movies based on Magic Land material being retitled Fantastic Journey to Oz and Fantastic Return to Oz, there will be an official English dub though currently unclear when while a Portuguese dub was released in Brazil on January 30th.
