This is WRONG. There was no "trap", Frank and Lyman were simply sent after him and she happened to be nearby when lion was kidnapped.

The Mouse That Roared (1955) by Leonard Wibberley is a classic satirical novel about an absurd neo-medievalist country which mediates peace between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. March Laumer's novel The Ten Woodmen of Oz (1987) has a somewhat similar plot with Oz being the mediator nation.
