The Annotated Wizard of Oz is, as its title indicates, an annotated edition of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, prepared by Michael Patrick Hearn. The first edition was published by Clarkson N. Potter Inc. in 1973. A second edition followed from Crown in 1976. The work was revised and expanded for a 2000 edition, published by W. W. Norton & Co. to mark the centennial of Baum's book.
Hearn modeled his edition on Martin Gardner's The Annotated Alice (1960). Gardner in turn provided an Introduction to Hearn's book.
