Robin Brown is a child protagonist from Oregon, USA, who appeared in Elois Jarvis McGraw and Lauren Lynn McGraw's Merry Go Round in Oz, as well as its unfinished sequel.

History[]

After getting on a merry-go-round that he goes on year after year without any suspicions, he meets a magical ticket seller, who redirects Robin to what he views as the prettiest horse on the carousel. He notices a brass ring contest happening, where, if grabbed while going round, he would get a, "FREE RIDE." He manages to grab it, to the glee of the ticket seller, and is a granted a "free ride" to the Land of Oz, as the merry-go-round spins unusually fast and sends him and the horse, whom he later names Merry Go Round, flying through the air, with his final destination being the Quadling Country of Oz, where his adventures begin. (Merry Go Round in Oz)

He was slated to appear in an untitled sequel to the McGraw's novel, where an estimated six chapters were written before Elois's death, according to Eric Shanower. The sequel would have dealt with characters from their first Oz novel, including Fess and the Flittermouse, celebrating Robin's anniversary in Oz. It would have also included the reappearance of the infamous Nome King, Ruggedo (here spelled "Gnome King" in the tradition of Ruth Plumly Thompson and John R. Neill), showing him becoming unenchanted from his cactus form that was seen in Handy Mandy in Oz. Chapter Three of this sequel was published in the 1990 Oziana as "Chapter Three" (Untitled Merry Go Round in Oz sequel).
