Ozma of Oz is the 3rd book in L. Frank Baum's Oz book series. It was published on June 30th, 1907.
Plot[]
While traveling to Australia with Uncle Henry, Dorothy Gale is caught in a storm at sea and swept overboard with a hen named Billina. They wash ashore in the Land of Ev, a country across the desert from Oz, where they encounter the Wheelers and meet Tik-Tok, the mechanical man. At the royal palace in Evna, they meet Princess Langwidere, who locks Dorothy in a tower.
The next morning a contingent of dignitaries from Oz cross the Deadly Desert on a Magic Carpet, on a mission to liberate Ev's royal family from the wicked Nome King. They rescue Dorothy and travel north to the Nome Kingdom.
There they encounter Roquat, the Nome King. He offers them the chance to free the Queen of Ev and her children, who have been transformed into ornaments in his palace. It is a trick however, and he gradually begins to transform the Ozians into ornaments as well. Billina overhears him talking with his Chief Steward and learns their secret, enabling her to break the enchantments. Dorothy takes his Magic Belt and the Ozians escape with the royal family of Ev.
They return to Evna, where Evardo is crowned king. Afterward, with Princess Ozma's help, they finally return to Oz for a visit before Dorothy is transported back to Uncle Henry.
