Maxfield Parrish (July 25, 1870 - March 30, 1966) was one of the most popular American artists of the 20th century. Parrish provided illustrations for Mother Goose in Prose (1897), L. Frank Baum's first book. It was also Parrish's first job as a book illustrator.
In 1916 Baum became involved in a projected stage-musical version of the Snow White fairy tale, which was planned to have sets designed by Parrish. The project, however, never came to fruition.
