Maurício de Miranda do Valle, or simply Maurício do Valle (pronounced: mal-REE-seeoo doo VAH-lee), was a Brazilian actor. In the 1984 Brazilian parody film Os Trapalhões e o Mágico de Oróz, Maurício played Colonel Ferreira.

Biography[]

Born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Maurício entered cinema in the early 1950s after answering a newspaper ad requesting extras for the film "Tudo Azul", by Moacyr Fenelon.

On television, his first role was in a television play, alongside Fernanda Montenegro, at the end of the 1950s. Maurício do Valle played the heartthrob Armand Duval, in "A Dama das Camélias".

He became internationally famous for his role as Antônio das Mortes, the cangaceiro hunter in Gláuber Rocha's films, "Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol" and "O Dragão da Maldade Contra o Santo Guerreiro".

In telenovelas, he stood out from "Meu Pedacinho de Chão", by Benedito Ruy Barbosa, with whom he did several other works on TV, such as "Cabocla", in 1979, and "Pé de Vento", on Rede Bandeirantes, in 1980.

On Rede Globo he played the character Gigante, in "Sítio do Pica-Pau Amarelo" from the 1970s, he acted in the series "Carga Pesada", in "Você Decide", Maurício played the character Martins, in the miniseries "O Tempo e o Vento", he acted in the soap operas "Olhai os Lírios do Campo" and "Roque Santeiro", where he played Delegado Feijó in the classic telenovela by Dias Gomes.

Mauricio do Valle passed away on October 7, 1994 due to heart complications and diabetes. Three months before his death, one of his legs was amputated due to vascular problems, and the other was amputated in the early hours on the day of his death. Actor Sergio Valle, Mauricio's brother, reported that Mauricio had "lost the will to live" when his leg was amputated. His body was buried in the Cemitério do Catumbi cemetery in Rio de Janeiro.
