Lord General Nikidik is the secondary antagonist in the television episode The Land of Oz (1960) from Shirley Temple's Storybook. He is played by Jonathan Winters.
Fictional character biography[]

Lord Nikidik was an openly evil nobleman in the Land of Oz. The butler Graves was his chief lackey. Nikidik arranged with the witch Mombi to kidnap Princess Ozma, so that Nikidik could claim the throne of Oz for himself.

While Nikidik raised an army with himself as General Nikidik, a Scarecrow was placed on the throne of Oz after the Wizard departed. Nikidik attacked the Emerald City and proclaimed himself King. However, the Scarecrow fled the city with allies, one of whom was Tip, the enslaved "boy" who was really the amnesiac Ozma. Queen Glinda figured this out, and used magic to render Mombi impotent of spellcasting, as well as animating a set of toy soldiers to become human and defeat Nikidik's forces. Ozma was restored to her proper self. The new Queen sentenced Nikidik to do at least one good deed each day for as long as he lived, and become known as Nikidik the Good. This was a terrible punishment for a man who prided himself on being evil.
Background[]
Nikidik is named for the mad scientist Dr. Nikidik from the novel The Marvelous Land of Oz (1904), but his function as General takes the place of Jinjur from the same novel. Nikidik's evil nature, and his role in kidnapping the Princess of Oz, may be based on Prime Minister Kruel from the silent film The Wizard of Oz (1925).
