Lara Teeter (February 3, 1955-) is an actor who portrayed Hunk the Farmhand and the Scarecrow in the Madison Square Garden production of The Wizard of Oz.
Teeter was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Heearned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma City University.
He made his Broadway debut in the short-lived 1980 musical Happy New Year, followed by another short-lived musical, the stage adaptation of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, which ran on Broadway in 1982 for five performances.
Lara has performed in six Broadway shows, including the revival of the Rodgers and Hart classic On Your Toes, for which he received a Tony nomination and Outer Critics Circle Award. Since 1990, Lara has appeared on The Muny stage in many shows: Singin’ In the Rain, The Wizard of Oz, Little Shop of Horrors, White Christmas, Hairspray, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Bye, Bye Birdie, and, most recently, The Muny’s 100th Celebration and Gypsy! For Variety Theatre, he has directed The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Oliver!, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Peter Pan, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and he is thrilled to be involved with the remounting of this year’s unique production of Mary Poppins!
