Kimbaloo is a kingdom in the western Gillikin Country. It is ruled by King Kinda Jolly and Queen Rosa Merry. The castle is "one of the coziest castles in Oz" and has a lot of windows and chimneys. It is always covered in flowers from Queen Rosa Merry's bouquet bush. The whole kingdom is in a buttonwood forest. The residents of Kimbaloo, called Kimbles, live in tiny cottages. They wear clothes trimmed with buttons. 250 of them are little girls, and 250 of them are little boys. Every morning, the 250 girls receive bouquets from Queen Rosa Merry and head down the Queen's Highway to the Winkie Country to sell them. While the girls are doing this, the boys pick a box full of buttons from the button trees and head down the King's Highway to sell their buttons in the Gillikin Country. For the rest of the day, the Kimbles can do whatever they want. Another inhabitant of Kimbaloo is Trippsy, the king's pet foot stool.
There are adults in the kingdom of Kimbaloo, but not very many of them. King Kinda Jolly employs Hah Hoh as the Town Laughter. Hah Hoh is called on whenever the king or queen are at risk of laughing to hard and need someone to laugh for them. Kimbaloo also has a Town Crier who cries for the king and queen on the rare occasions that something bad happens in Kimbaloo. King Kinda Jolly employs a bodyguard named General Whiffenpuff. For a while, Mombi was employed as the royal cook, but left to go find the King of Oz. She took Snip, one of the king's button boys, with her. (The Lost King of Oz)
