José Tavares (pronounced: joe-ZEH tah-VAH-rees) is a Brazilian who works mainly in the sound department. He did the direct sound for the 1984 Brazilian parody film Os Trapalhões e o Mágico de Oróz.

Biography[]

José Tavares is best known for his work in the sound department for the films "Garota Enxuta", from 1959, "Um Candango na Belacap", from 1961, "O Judoka", from 1973, and "Simbad, O Marujo Trapalhão", from 1976. He began his film career with the 1959 film "Mulheres, Cheguei!" by Victor Lima. He had acted once in the 1970 film "O Bolão" by Wilson Silva, and had done the special effects once for the film "Pecado Mortal", also from 1970. He worked in about 15 films from the "Os Trapalhões" series, starting with the 1975 film "O Trapalhão na Ilha do Tesouro" and ending with the 1989 film "Os Trapalhões na Terra dos Monstros".
