Jeroen Phaff (1965- ) is a Dutch musical artist. He played the role of The Cowardly Lion in De musical The Wiz.

Biography[]

Phaff is the eldest son in a family with two younger sisters. From 1973 he spent his childhood in Breda . After completing havo, Phaff studied classical singing with Bernard Kruysen and Hans Smout . He became known to the wider public with the talent show A Star is Born (presented at the time by Ron Brandsteder ). Phaff married Marleen van der Loo , also a Dutch musical actor, on July 7 , 1998 . They met during Evita , where he played Perón and she played the mistress. Together they had a daughter.

Phaff performed as a baritone in various choirs, including the Groot Omroepkoor and the World Youth Choir . His repertoire is diverse. In addition to works by Bach , Mussorgsky and Poulenc , he also sings music by Sting and Randy Newman . He also performed alongside Wilma Driessen in a promenade concert. He also appeared in the television program A Star is Born. Phaff has also narrated a number of cartoons such as: Ratjetoe in Paris , De Snorkels and Zoostraat 64 . Since 2010, Jeroen has been part of the semi-classical trio Forte (together with Rolf van Rijsbergen and Rein Kolpa). He is also part of the Grand Choir of the Dutch Opera. He is a teacher at the Public Regional School Community "Lek en Linge" in Culemborg where he teaches German and Drama.
