Gil S. Joel was a modern-day author of Oz works. He wrote:
- The Case of the Framed Fairy of Oz (1993), with Chris Dulabone
- The Healing Power of Oz (1995)
- The Roots of Wonder in Oz (1998)
- The Dark Ages of Oz (2003).
Two of his books, Roots of Wonder and Dark Ages, deal with the early history of Oz.
