Evamene (or Evamean) is the name given to the Wicked Witch of the East in The Wiz and was the original barer of the Silver Shoes.
Broadway[]
In the Broadway musical, she who rules and terrorizes the Munchkins. She was crushed by Dorothy Gale's farmhouse when it lands in Munchkinland after being hurled by a tornado from Kansas.
Film[]
In the film version, Evamene was the Munchkinland Park's Department commissioner. She transformed all the Munchkins into graffiti as punishment for spray painting on her playground walls. When Dorothy arrived in Oz she fell through a large sign, causing the debris to fall and flatten Evamene in the process. Upon her death, the Munchkins were set free from the curse and turned back to normal.
- It's believed that Evamene and her sister Evillene may have been identical twins. When we first see Evamene, she wears a dress similar to Evillene. And Evillene also has a portrait of Evamene on her throne and they both favor each other slightly.
- The portrait may have been an early concept design for Evillene before going with the final design.
