Dorothy Gale: Journey to Oz is a comic book series, a modern adult reimagining of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Unlike many other reimaginings, this series does not have Dorothy teaming up with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. Instead, these characters are now dark enemies, and Dorothy has found different allies.
Plot[]
Dorothy Gale and her friend Toto, after stealing a blanket from an old vendor named Ed, get sucked through a portal into the Land of Oz, a dark place ruled by the Wizard, who is cruel and merciless.
Ed, the vendor, gets stuck with them, and reveals he is originally from Oz. They meet a group of Munchkins, who are auctioning off their personal items. The procession is attacked by Scarecrows, who were all once human but were converted into scarecrows by spiders that wrap them up and slowly convert them to straw. They have a hive mind, ruled by the Scarecrow King. When one of the munchkins is taken by the Scarecrows, Dorothy agrees to help rescue him.
