Clara Blandick

Clara Blandick (4 June 1880 – 15 April 1962) was the actress who portrayed Aunt Em in MGM's 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.

She had a long and productive stage career, and appeared in more than 100 films from 1911 to 1950. She played Aunt Polly in Huckleberry Finn (1931), and Miss Watson in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1939). She was paid $750 for her work on the Oz film.

Blandick committed suicide at the age of 81 with a dose of sleeping pills, after a long period of poor health and failing eyesight.
